the ideal time for family photos
A lot of people say that life is just too busy during the school/work week to then go and add afternoon family photos to the mix. Kids are tired. You’re tired. I get it.
But a few times a year, we get the chance to slow down a little with school holidays. I love nothing more when the morning school routine is put on hold and we actually have more time to just be in each others presence as a family. Everyone feels more relaxed, happier even. I love that I have my kids home and we just get to ‘be’. Daily sleep-ins, later dinners. It all just feels good. I love this version of us and that feeling of content that it brings.
If you book photos during the holidays you’re not rushing from work to pick the kids up from school. And when they get in the car, they’re exhausted, they start complaining and then you start telling yourself this was a stupid idea because it’s feeling too hard and everyone is going to lose their shit during the photos. And you haven’t even made it home yet to get changed….
Maybe you like to go away during the holidays - to the beach, maybe camping or head west to visit family? This is an ideal opportunity to document a tradition that is unique to your family. I would happily meet you where ever these memories take place for you. Some of my favourite childhood photos are taken on our summer beach holidays.
So you can understand why I suggest we make some photos during school holidays. It feels more doable - less hectic. The vibe is just better. Which means you’ll probably enjoy the whole experience a whole lot more.
Think about it - but not for too long. Because kids are growing and our wrinkles are getting deeper.
